Our Story

Peace House Studio began as a husband-and-wife (and three daughters, two cats, and a dog) team in Bath, Maine.

Kate, born and raised in Maine, began sewing at an early age. Nick, from rural Wisconsin, spent much of his childhood in the outdoors, which shaped his interest in the environment. When their first daughter was born in 2014, they struggled to find clothing that met their standards for fashion, quality, ethics, and sustainability — so they made their own. Peace House Studio was formed in 2020.

At Peace House Studio, we believe that clothing should not just look good, it should do good. We make our durable, soft clothing at our Maine studio using organic cotton fabric milled and dyed in California. Through the Patches Project, we give new life to worn and torn Peace House Studio clothing. We believe that clothes belong on people, not in landfills. We continue to look for new ways to minimize the environmental impact of fashion – we hope you will join us.
